One vocal Stuy Town tenant who was hit the hardest by the brown water - a woman living with cancer who was forced to bath with bottled water for months - passed away earlier this year. The DEP Deputy Commissioner, Anne Canty, said the water may look "unappealing" but there is "nothing in that water that is harmful to your health." Riiight.

The DEP Deputy Commissioner, Anne Canty, said the water may look "unappealing" but there is "nothing in that water that is harmful to your health."
I have to say, I side with the DEP on this one. Provided, of course, that you don't drink it, bathe in it, touch it, inhale the fumes from it, come within five feet of it or taunt it in any way. It can get nasty when you taunt it...
I've had so much of this shit in my tub & sink I can't take it any more. The worst is when you're rushing out for the day and the shower runs cafe mocha and you just have no choice. It stinks, too.
My water was brown this morning! Not as brown as that picture, but still brown.
"The apartments are still big, the water is still brown"
Loathe your space.
Nina was my friend. (Choking up.) Anyway, she was stoic in her cancer, and if she told anybody at all it was to warn other tenants here about her concerns about the water and the brownfields.*
*A topic that gets next to no attention, still.
Got chunks?!?
Her passing breaks my heart. I went over to her place with my camera to take photos of the water for her. The water was absolutely disgusting. Brown water coming from every faucet. She ran the tub for the 45 minutes I was there and it ran brown the entire time. She had cases of bottled water everywhere that she and her son used for drinking and bathing. I'll never forget that look of total exhaustion on her face from what she went through.
Good god, people should not have to live that way regardless of what they pay.
It is a heart breaking story. She had files. I'd like to get to those files.
Her mention is killing me. The last social thing she asked me to do was if I wanted to go look at the ST "nativity" with her.
She wasn't lame or unhip.
Nina was special. Intuitive. Wise. You should only know.
She was young.
Last I saw, all that was left of her were bags of supplements and amino acids in her fridge.
I called her in hospice. She said she felt "Good." Which is the point and thank the gods for that.
She didn't want anybody to know that she had CA or that she was even dead. There was no memorial. Nothing.
I guess I should be pissed at her for that, ey?
She was a lot wiser than she looked, and I have every fucking email to prove it.
Maybe we should chip in and write up some kind of obit for T&V, Luxus?
So sorry for your loss. Sounds like a special lady and a loss to the community as well.
OMG!!!!!!!
OMG what, girl? Someone used the bathtub pic, or linked to your blog, or what? It has nothing to do with Nina.
No, that is not my blog! It's a photo of a poor tenant trying to take a bath in the ST filthy brown water. That IS what this thread is about, hello?
Hello back. I don't think that is what the thread is about anymore. YMMV. Guess I got confused with the Dear Scott business being there.
We're grieving. WHOOSH!
"I don't think that is what the thread is about anymore."
Oh, I didn't realize you were appointed the hall monitor. Make sure to let us all know what the threads are REALLY about so we can post appropriately.
Look, the thread is now about you. No problem.
But let me make this clear, girl: If you are in one of your snarky, witty, and 'clever' moods, I suggest you find another Girl to fuck with, because you truly don't want to fuck with me; I could cream you in two lines.
That being said, I really don't care, and flame-wars are absolutely not my thing. Your mileage apparently varies. (YMAV.)
ANd that being said, Nina is dead and this thread is about you and your narcissisum. (sp?)
Congrats. You may continue to make an ass of yourself, but, with this exception, I have more class than to join you any further.
To girl from Woman:
And another thing.
Thanks. I needed that. ;-)
Hmmm I honestly don't think she's a hall monitor, dropping multiple F-bomb's and
violating Lux's terms of service all in one post!
"...With that said, be courteous. You agree that you will not threaten or verbally abuse other members...Use respectful language. Like any community, the online conversation flourishes only when our members feel welcome and safe..."
Besides, she's been banned from this site before for harassment (as Cassie)
so I think THAT would automatically disqualify her!
Hey, if you drop the F-bomb the LEAST you can do is pick it up...
I apologize to those I offended by my outburst last night. I am embarassed. Subjectively, seeing a doll's face in what is the closet thing to my friend's tomb that I'll ever see was just too much. Mea culpa.
I dunno about your friend's closet.
Just thought we should all clean up our respective acts.
And like that...
I think the word that Yetai meant to use was closest, not closet. It is upsetting when you've lost a friend, especially when the illness was made more painful if not precipitated by the callousness of Tishman Speyer. It stings if you perceive that someone is making light of the friend's suffering as well as your own grief, though I don't personally believe that that is what Girl was trying to do. Sometimes these posts show up in an order that can make them look out of context.
Thanks, but I have no hard feelings. It is what it is and it is a message board and I reacted in an unbecoming way and I don't think anybody doesn't get that now.
Moving along, how else can we shred TS to pieces? :-)
Luxie? The rat isn't flying. Nexties...
