Dogs, College Kids to Blame for Stuy Town Carpet Removal

stuy-town-elevator-floor.jpgStuyvesant Town, the textbook example of why you shouldn't let your inexperienced child make a multi-billion dollar real estate purchase with other people's money, is now removing the dentist-office-chic carpeting from it's rogue elevators.

Maintenance men have found it next to impossible to keep the elevator carpeting clean since Tishman Speyer allowed dogs and college students into Stuyvesant Town. The carpets are frequently covered in pee, excrement, and vomit though it's unclear if the funky fluids are from pet dogs or the rowdy college kids Tishman Speyer rents apartments to as dorms.

"I'm pretty sure it's the college kids," says a maintenance man who asked to remain anonymous. "The last time I checked dogs didn't wear New Balance sneakers when they stomped their feces into a rug."

Plus Robbie never learned to clean up after his goats. I hope the cost of removing all that dung from the elevator carpets is deducted from his allowance!

Did you read about Robbie in the Post today? He got arrested at a screening of The Men Who Stare At Goats for lewd behavior, disturbing the peace, and endangering an animal. Yup, you guessed it. Clarabell, the goat missing from the sanctuary upstate. I'll never be able to eat Raisinettes again!

Interesting that they put carpet in the ST elevators. PCV has industrial rubber tiles, the kind with the raised circles. Definitely makes it easier to mop up the dog urine, as I saw one tenant have to do when she didn't get her dog to the curb in time.

O now I'll never be able to eat Raisenettes again either !

Call me an idiot (go ahead...) but who carpets an elevator? No wonder they had to take them out. It was a dumb move to begin with!

OK....big surprise, here...

As for the dogs, they don't pee because they can't make it outside. They pee because they WANT TO. They smell something else in the carpet that sets them off and then they let loose. I have lots of dog experience. Please, trust me on this one.

That said, dogs and carpets don't mix--especially in common areas.

Now goats, that's a different matter altogether...

This particular dog peed on the rubber tile floor, but you might still be right. It's also possible that the owner was to blame by not getting the dog outside in time.

Yeah, maybe. But if the dog had to go that bad, it would have been in the apartment.

Trust me, a lot of their behavior is to mark and establish dominance and territory.

Regardless, you and I don't want to smell it on our way downtsairs!

Poor heartbroken Clarabell! After the screening, that cad Robbie dumped her for the lead goat in the film. Here she is at the sanctuary, still calling his name. At least now she knows that Robbie is quite the player!

That is so sad.
