Love how they're holding the press conference outside the rental office. Stick it to them!
Pity they couldn't have this at 5:30 when the rest of us are coming back from work, it would have attracted a huge crowd.
Congratulations to Dan Garodnick and the Tenants Association for unearthing this little nugget that allowed "Roberts" to go forth. At least this now opens the door to the "possibility" of keeping ST/PCV an affordable middle class enclave.
Congratulations too, go out to the author of Lux Living and it's supporters for their continuing work on showcasing the inept management and arrogant greed that pushed this once great community into darkness. I firmly believe that without this continued advocacy, the forces of greed (et. al. Bloomberg, Speyer and friends) will continue to push REAL New Yorkers out of this city.
Good point. But I'm sure the evening news teams will be on the street interviewing people around that time.
I think it's better they do it now so people can watch the finished segment tonight on the news.
Thanks for posting. I am going to run over there now. I'm in my gym clothes, so better not wind up on the evening news :-)!
Let us know how it goes! Thanks.
This is probably very selfish and I’m glad my NYU neighbors might be getting some sort of a refund for their troubles but how is this victory bringing me closer to owning this magical new appliance I hear about – DISHWASHER
I want a 1960s appliance too.
It was a very celebratory mood. Everybody was there, except of course, Bloomberg (& Carolyn Maloney who is in DC).
Not much new news in terms of how this will play out going forward and how the class action members will be defined. Also, I asked what will happen to the renovated vacant apts.--what will the new rents be? No one knows.
lol!
I was a ST victim from 2004-2006. Anyone know how to get my name on the class action suit?
Try contacting Alex Schmidt of the Wolf Haldenstein firm (plaintiffs counsel)212 545 4723.
BTW - Court of Appeals did not rule on retroactivity of decision. That will be decided either in settklement discussions or by the trial court judge
thanks for spreading the word about this. I went. not much new info but good to be there, nonetheless.
token appearances by a number of people that really had no impact in our success here but so goes NYC politics.
it felt good to be at the ceremony where we drove the stake into the heart of TS.
i don't think we're quite out of the woods but i definitely sense that there is going to be a change in the air. probably more like a throwback to the metlife days rather than the manny/oval concierge days. take it for what it is worth.
I want Manny to stay regardless. Perhaps as a porter?
