Several Lux Living readers have forwarded us an e-mail sent out by Stuyvesant Town's management team about an hour ago with regards to their water suddenly being turned off. The e-mail's detail disorientated author forgot to include a few things, like, which buildings are affected and for how long the kitchens will be without water. In all fairness, we give them a tip of the hat for both doing their job and packing up their desk at the same time.

October 29 , 2009: Water Shutdown In Your Kitchen
Please be advised that the water in your kitchen will be temporarily shutdown due to necessary repairs.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank You,
Stuyvesant Town Management
Update: 1:35PM
Management is saying the e-mail was sent by mistake and that there is no scheduled work being done on the water pipes today. Chaos as usual.

Funny! I just I got the following:
Property Alert
October 29 , 2009: Hot Water WILL NOT be Shutdown
We apologize for the confusion, THE HOT WATER IN YOUR KITCHEN WILL NOT BE SHUTDOWN.
Thing is, they never sent me the FIRST one telling me the water would be shut down.
Things seem to be going smoothly at the management office....
They are IN so much hot water in the management office that they can provide hot water fot the entire complex by themselves
LOL, I got the first but not the second email
So, my hot water won't be shut off, but the cold water will? Hmm... I'd like to see how they manage that.
Can anyone help me determine what kind of bug issue I have in my apt. Pre Stuy Town lux living (just moved in), I'd never before seen this bug!
It's tiny, red and looks like it has a hard outer shell. Like a mean maroon lady bug.
I think I've seen it's parents version in the basement - looks like a roach but more red in color.
Does anyone know what this is? Should I be calling the exterminator, or does no one care??
It's not a bug--it's an exotic pet. Another amenity!
Seriously, call them and they will spray.
'Usually love 447', you should meet '447 HELL.'
I have strange bugs now and then in my cabinets. They are roughly 1/4 the size of a ladybug, round, reddish brown, and move slow enough to kill. Does this sound like your bug?
I get a lot of them out of nowhere, then they go dormant.
Yes that's it!!!!! I'm assuming they are harmless, but I have no idea. Something about them creeps me out.
Luckily I'm too new to consider 447 hell! I'm just happy to be living in the East Vil. The UWS was great, but this is a whole new world. I'm still in the euphoric stage where I sit by the oval fountain and marvel at how lucky I am!
hahaha, I just got the 'no shut down' notice but no 'shut down' before that. Althogh I did just also get one of those events emails.
I just got that same email AGAIN!
They never invite me to their events for some reason...
I'm not sure what they are. I know they were loving a box of unopened pasta in my cabinet. Ever since my floor became a pressure wall heaven the roaches and mystery bugs have been out of control. I have to scatter traps EVERYWHERE. AND remember to put them away before company comes over.
Not to sound sexist but I had never seen a roach in my apartment until 9,000 young females moved onto my floor. One day I was riding in the elevator with one and she was eating crackers for breakfast, dropping large pieces of them everywhere. Slobs.
"Not to sound sexist"...even though your whole comment was sexist? Ironic.
Well, it's true. In the 6 years I've lived here I haven't had an issue with bugs until my floor became a sorority. Call it what you want.
I believe they are grain beetles. They will usually just go for pasta, crackers, flour, and breakfast cereal, but I've also found them in packets of Swiss Miss. I wouldn't call an exterminator because they're pretty easy to get rid of: just throw out anything they've infested (you wouldn't want to eat it anyway) and going forward keep any of these types of food items tightly sealed, preferably in Tupperware-type containers. If you can cut off the food sources they die out quickly.
I'm pretty sure it's not a girl thing. But maybe I'm just saying that because I'm a woman.
Thanks for the tip, Make My Day!
