Lux Living Inbox Rant: Please Hold...Indefinitely

"Yesterday I received my monthly rental bill--an extravagant $3200. This month there was a bonus amount! $268 'forwarded' for what--who the hell knows--making a grand total of $3468 for one month of living in this increasingly vile sh*t hole.

Upon calling the management office today and being transferred to 'billing' I was immediately greeted by a lilting I'm-at-a-call-center-in-India-but-trying-really-hard-to-speak-to-you-in-an-American-accent voice that was recorded to advise me:

"We sorry all agents are busy assisting other residents at this time. Please do hold to speak to the next available accounts representative--else please call back at another time and we would be glad to assist you with your questions. Thank You."

Now, I've got nothing against call centers in India but this not only grammatically incorrect English, but this loop plays with a break of TWO seconds. I've now been listening to this message for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I don't know how many message that equals but it's enough to make me kill someone. I think they purposely play the loop continuously so that it will make you crazy and you'll just hang up!

I called back on another phone (while still on hold) and was told "they're really busy today and maybe I could call back on Monday". They want me to wait FIVE days because they are 'too busy'?!  Unbelievable.

If we hadn't been stupid enough to sign a two-year lease (and that second year is at an increase of $3400), I'd be out of here next month.

This place used to be a great place to live, but it just keeps going down, down, down.

Still holding....."

Don't pay the rent until you get an answer.

That's crazy ! and here I thought they treated the
people paying market rate at least a little better that the rent stabilized tenants !!

And what are they so busy with????

Planning the next war with Pakistan

I called four times before I issued a stop payment. Every time I called, I would ask why my rent check hadn't been cashed yet. I mean, it was almost time to write the next month's rent check. Every time I called, I was told they hadn't received the check. Well I guess they received it, tried to process it (even though I told them on 4 separate occasions to not cash it) and it bounced.

It's written in my lease that the check must be received within 5 days... there should be a rider that states it should be cashed by the 15th of the month. Why can they hold onto it that long?? I don't like extra money in my account or worrying if the check was lost.

So every month I call, explain what happened and I been told that the $50 would be removed. Still hasn't been removed...

on to month 4...
