I really wish they understood that my window is not a drive through. They keep yelling orders in at me and calling me 'babe'.

Is it legal to have such mixed use, where Tish Spy is likely geting some sort of compensation, in a residential building?

I can't believe they would do something like this and have the gall to call Stuyvesant Town a luxury residence. The last time I checked Trump Tower didn't have a construction company on the ground floor.

Did you all get the email that asks you to fill out this form in order to register for the new resident "portal"? What do others think about this? Is it giving too much information or am I just paranoid?

I don't think there's anything that can be termed "too paranoid", given the craziness of the past two years with Tishman Speyer! I would not fill out anything at this point.

I pay my rent in full and on time, I don't sublet, I don't earn anywhere close to the top salary restriction, I stick to the guidelines and legalities of the rent stabilization laws, and I blissfully ignore the other "amenities" of this Luxury Living complex. I intend to give them nothing more than what is strictly required by law; I am convinced that they are always looking for ways to get the RS people out. Is that "too paranoid"? Maybe, but I can't afford to move, and I refuse to be at the mercy of TS.

Which brings up another paranoia issue - can they legally get rid of keys and force residents to use the card system for entry to the buildings? Is anything being done to check this out??

My building is switching to key card entry only next week and I would like to know why they gave each tenant who lives alone only ONE key card. We have two copies of the metal key, why not two copies of the card? I am going to have major surgery for cancer next week and would like to give a key/keycard to the friend who is going to pop in a check on me from time to time after I get home from the hospital. This person does not live in Stuyvesant Town and as I have no family living within travelling distance, this is my lifeline. That video intercom is too far away from the bedroom or living room sofa for that matter for it to be easy for me to get up and buzz her in. I consider this to be an infrigement on my rights and a threat to my wellbeing. But what can I do about it?

To Rent Stabilized w/o Portal:

This has to be a scam, otherwise why would they want your social security number? If you have to join, give a fake one. NOAB (none of anybody's business).

In these days of identity theft you can't be too careful.

you can have guest cards - they just need to go to the office on avenue c to get one - give them a call - I'm sure you need to give some sort of permission

The request on the resident portal is true--they are just too out of touch with reality to realize that people do not want to provide this info in the age of identity theft. They actually asked for the same info on the contact sheet that was included with my rent renewal. I left it all blank, except for the basics.

Regarding the key cards--I had provided an update to Luxie, but here it is briefly: Yes, you have to get a key card as the bill forbidding them hasn't gone to the State Senate yet. It has to have your photo, but not your name. Although you need to bring photo ID with you to get the key card, you DO NOT have to let them make a copy of it, and, they CANNOT insist.

Re: the guest cards, I agree with TOTALLY SICK--I also live alone and have always had an extra set of keys-and am really angered by the fact that I cannot now. It is a total pain in the ass for someone to have to go to Avenue C to get a guest card, especially, if that person lives far away and only comes to visit for a few days once/year as many of my family and friends do. I believe the alternative is to have a "Guest List" for you apartment, and the visitor can be buzzed in by security. Another invasion of privacy, as it is none of my landlord's business who my friends and relatives are.

Sorry for the run-on post, but this issue really incites my rage and I cannot believe that this is being allowed.

I think tenants should start inflating their own rats on the complex!

You have to enter in the real last 4 digits of your social. I tried entering in a fake and it said to call management. This means all of our names and social security numbers and birthdays are on some anonymous server somewhere. Boy, I feel safe!

Then, damn it, I want flowers on my birthday!

They are particularly interested in the year we are born so they can 1.) GET AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN THEY EXPECT US TO DROP DEAD 2.) SELL THE MAILING LIST TO AGE APPROPRIATE ADVERTISERS.

I was registered before, but now that log-in doesn't work. They want us to re-register. I can't recall if when I registered the first time I had to give my social security # and birthdate. Surely they already have this info in their files?
