"The TS sophisticated program of tenant harrassment continues. Reduction of services and safety, nuisance "improvements," potential invasion of privacy--just wait until the winter when there will be "problems with heating system" and old people are carried out in body bags dead from hypothermia--it's all there. As we tire--and we will--our fury will turn to resignation and resignation to despair. No one will come to our defense and rescue as they did Starrett City--not the politicos, the liberal elite/celebrities, the mayor, the City Council, the media--because TS and, before them, MetLife and their public relations hacks/prostitutes convinced the public that ST residents are all white upper middle and upper class folks who are taking advantage of rent stabilization to have summer mansions and to send their kids to elite private schools. That's what the world outside ST believes. So TS will continue to do what slum landlords have always done: harass, deprive,evict...and ignore the serious potential for danger.

At the end of the play "1776," when the Founding Fathers are so close to signing the Declaration of Independence, a courier from General George Washington, who has been delivering pleas all through the play for more bullets, shoes, coats, etc for the Continental Army and getting no answer, finally brings one last message: "Is anybody out there? Is anybody listening?" Does anybody hear us and care?"

Was it Met Life or Tish Spy who first asked for 33% or more increases on market rate rent lease renewals?

“If you want a Cadillac, buy a Cadillac,” says Dina Levy, project director of the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board. “Don't buy a Chevy and try to turn it into a Cadillac. You're not going to be able to do that.”

More city apartments facing foreclosure

What would happen to rs tenants if Stuyvesant Town goes into foreclosure?

Ironically, our taxes will go probably go up to bail out Tish Spy!

The only way to beat Tishman at their own game is to organize a public relations campaign to make them look like the incompetent asshats that they are. This blog and the TA forums are great tools, but there needs to be more bad publicity tossed into the traditional media channels. When you see the pure unadulterated bullshit that Tishman prints in the Daily News, then you know that we're not doing enough to counter them.

The TA should organize those efforts.

I hold Michael Bloomberg personally responsible for refusing to intervene to maintain affordable housing when others were supportive of us.

No one out there seems to want to look at the incompetent, inefficient and illegal way Rob Speyer is running the place. Are the Tishman Speyers fools or have they been plotting to destroy Stuy Town all along, that is the question.

We can collectively take a full page ad in the Times.

I would gladly contribute towards a full page ad in Times. The TA seems to have lost its bite and instead of a discussion of the problems we are facing in Stuyvesant Town, the message board is being monopolized by a lefty political blowhard who is determined to shove his politics down everyone's throats.

A full page ad (as of last year) in the A section of the NYT is $142,083. A discounted rate may be available for $64,575, but no guarantee when it runs.

And if you think that the right wing is going to save your middle class ass, you're gonna spend a loooooong time in that trailer waiting for THAT to happen !

Don't follow? Who said anything about the right wing saving anyone's middle class ass?

I'm all for a NY Times ad. $142,000 is nothing, when you consider how many tenants are involved. Perhaps we should get this on the agenda at the next tenants' meeting?

You said:

And I say that talking politics is counterproductive to the insurgency. Do you know what I mean ?

It's just one thread... on one message board... on the vast internet. Everyone has their right to free speech. Just click on a different thread and you won't be bothered if you don't want to read it.

Beulah,

Would you enlighten me please? Is "Money Talks" one of Beulette's disgruntled clients or what? Why else would he speak to you that way?

I guess he must be the obnoxious lefty who bombards the message board with his political propaganda with numerous links to all kinds of bloggers, pundits, etc. who he sycophantically adores. No one must ever say a word against those pols and pundits who he worships. All of them being about as liberal lefty as they get. That would be ok if he didn't jump into other threads and tell folks to shut up when he feels they've said enough or he doesn't like what they're saying. Beulette doesn't entertain him because he's too cheap.

Beulah,

I'd post this privately if I could, but unfortunately I'll have to (as you've also chosen) to post it publicly.

You know, the character you created for Lux Living serves a legitimate purpose in furthering the goal of informing the world of the plight of ST/PCV, but when you "break the 4th wall" you take the blog "off message". Lux Living is a parody. It's political theater. It derails the production, or "stops the show" (if you will) by criticizing some anonymous poster at the TA forums, or in one memorable post of yours, criticizing Luxie for a post you "didn't like".

You're entitled to your opinions, but it would probably be better to keep your "characters" "on message" and let Beulah and Beulette work towards exposing the Speyers for the trash that they are. You do that cleverly and well. Use PM's at the TA board or e-mail if you need to express your opinions to Luxie or anyone else about other issues both here or elsewhere.

Our cause is best served by keeping LUX LIVING focused exclusively on it's goals, not squabbling over unrelated BS.

Hope you understand my points. Thanks

Hm,damned uppety, sniffy yankee, if you ask me. Back in my old Grandpapa Beauregard's day, young Mr. Money Talks would be looking at the business end of a colichmarde at OvalDuel. I'm heading over to Beulette's trailer to sink some Southern Comfort and smooth my ruffled feathers and then me and Beulette will rustle up a spitting contest to see how many gobs we can get on that shiny new Leasing Office window. We know how to have fun without paying $250 a year and $20 a week!

Greets! Really interesting. keep working! Tnx!

THAT'S the Beulah I know and love ! Good thing you're aim ain't so good !

Tell Beulette I'll see her when the check comes in !

"I'll see her when the check comes in." That's what they all say, snippety young Mr. Money Talks. You lefties are just as cheap as the righties when it comes to paying Beulette for her services. I've told her from now on it has to be cash on the barrel, no exceptions. I hope you got the rash that Beulette caught from Bud Perrone. That'll serve you right for being so impertinent to Beulette's beloved Mama. Moi.
