Bravo!

Good stuff.

Great!

That is a terrific video. Thank you to the lady who made it.

LOVE IT!

We need to see more videos like this because it puts a face to Stuyvesant Town and shows we are a diverse group of real people and not a retirement home clinging to the non-existent "rent controlled" apartments journalists frequently claim we have.

The woman who made it is Sandi Bachom.

Excellent!

Really puts a "face" of ST/PCV....

We're not just some piece of real estate property!

Kudos to Sandi Bachom, the film's creator.

I have lived here for 18 years and this is my home!

Great video--I'm in it.

Wilbur Ross says his company perfect for PCVST on CNBC (also piece says Donald interested in nothing more than getting his name in press. Surprise!)

Great video and great tag line!

Coop tax possible (via the Observer):

"Governor Paterson has a gift for Mayor Bloomberg in his proposed budget: more than $50 million a year from the under-tapped resource that is the city's co-op housing market.

"In the governor's cross hairs are loans for co-ops, which have long been free of taxation while taxes on equivalent condos and houses run between 2.05 percent and 2.175 percent of any mortgage. The budget seeks to allow the city to slap this mortgage recording tax onto co-ops, swinging the tax lasso around a cash source that has been eyed-but untouched-by city officials since at least the days of Ed Koch." (continued http://www.observer.com/2010/real-estate/bell-tolls-co-ops)

Depending on available resources, it would be good to do more pieces like this and post them on YouTube, LL, and other blogs. It's easy for readers of Curbed or NY Mag to stereotype ST/PCV residents as a bunch of complaining leaches because they don't know the residents here and it's always easier to wrap a demographic in a stereotype than it is to deal with a problem.

If real people were willing to do short clips like this and talk about some of the ongoing problems they were having and their concerns with new management, it would be hard for people to ignore the situation.

Kudos to Sandi Bachom!

Kudos! Marvelous.!

As someone said to me recently re TS: "This is my HOME. This isn't part time!"

I absolutely love it and I'm in it too :-)

Seriously, when the Oval atrocities close next month we should set up an impromptu recording studio where we film tenants' stories and youtube them.

Read it and vomit: "The Selling of Stuy Town": http://www.observer.com/2010/real-estate/selling-stuy-town#

Pulitzer Prize winner Jared Diamond says that a kleptocracy only works if these 4 simple rules are followed:

1. Disarm the populace, and arm the elite.

2. Make the masses happy by redistributing much of the tribute received, in popular ways.

3. Use the monopoly of force to promote happiness, by maintaining public order and curbing violence.

4. Construct an ideology or religion justifying kleptocracy.

They're screwing up number 2 big time.

Another MetLife mess. I heard on QXR this morning that a judge has ordered that Riverton be put up for auction. The tenants there have been through a lot--pray for them (I say that in a nonreligious way).

Yeah--where are my bread and circuses? Bring back the Roman empire.

Roman Empire? How about America's middle-class era, when management didn't "go out ruthlessly to reward itself." When sound management was "expected to exercise restraint.'' And when politicians were less inclined to to cater to the interests of the wealthy?

thank you, I shot this video, do you have any idea how we can get it seen? Please come to the YouTube page and give it 5 stars and post comments!

Great idea, I'd like to interview all 25,000!!!!! and keep putting them up on YouTube, we could start anytime, maybe set up a place people can just come in and say their name and how long they've lived here.

This Is My Home Project....if Steven Spielberg can do it....YES WE CAN!!!!!!
please put your comments on YouTube and tell all your friends, if we get thousands of views on youtube, we can send to Axelrod and if we name the CEO's of Fannie and Freddie make it uncomfortable.

Yesterday btw, we now own 100% of Freddie and Fannie!!!!!

Have you tried sending it to some of the morning news shows, like Today? They would have the time slots to run it. The regular evening news most likely do not. Unfortunately, I don't have contact info for Today Show and the others, but I'll check around.

You said that the current kleptocracy was falling down on making "the masses happy by redistributing much of the tribute received, in popular ways." That's what the Romans did with their policy of bread (food) and circuses (entertainment). The Soviets keeping the price of vodka cheap falls in the same category. That's what I was referring to.

Great video, Sandi. You could try sending it to the media that have been covering this story. They could certainly embed it in their online stories. This site has posted many of the articles--NY Times, Observer, Bloomberg, Crain's. But why not send it to media in places that invested--California, England, etc.
