This morning, Stuyvesant Town management invited Stuy Town residents to join them in their usually vacant Oval Film for today's "snow day entertainment" - an event that's open to all residents. Shocking!
Property AlertPlease remember not to make any sudden moves or loud noises around Oval Film's staff, they spook easy due to their severe case of year-round isolation!
February 10 , 2010: Join Us for Snow Day Entertainment!
Snow Day!
Come one and all to Oval Film (12 Stuyvesant Oval) for some snow day entertainment! From 11am to 6pm, Wednesday, February 10, all residents are invited to enjoy an all-day program of kid-friendly movies on the big screen!
Please don't hesitate to tell your friends and neighbors.
Thank You,
Stuyvesant Town Management

ha. where are they planning to put 2k kids with the 24 seats they have?
Didn't you see Inglorious Basterds? Donalda is going to torch the place!
Way to go ST mgmt! Encourage children to sit like zombies in front of the television rather than play outside in the snow!
It's easier to spread the swine flu indoors. Again with the outbreaks!
Thank you Oval Film - this is an excellent idea!
I hope they are showing The Bad Seed!
Aw, a basket of kisses? Check out the movie Orphan. Makes Rhoda or whatever he name was look tame.
I loved The Orphan. Predictable in some ways, but still fun to watch.
I loved it too!
Poor misunderstood Esther...
Esther: Stop crying. Grab a foot, and help me get her off the road. Now!
[to Max, after smashing Sister Abigail in the head with a hammer]
I let out an evil laugh when Esther brought mommy the roses.
The film would have been better if she had actually succeeded in seducing her adoptive father - that would have made it even more twisted.
I miss Manny.
Am I the only one that wondered if this was a trick to get us out of our apartments so they can change the locks and rent them out to new, unsuspecting tenants?!?
You have an evil mind, lifer. I like that! Perhaps the new management team will offer you a job?
It used to be that when it snowed Stuyvesant Town would be so quiet and peaceful all night with the blanket of snow muting all noise. Not the case now that they have snow plow derbies all night long.
so you guys complain when they didn't finish plowing overnight(like during the last snow storm). now you complain when they worked thru the night to finish. you complain when they open the oval film for all the kids during the storm. you complain that they kids play outside in the snow and make noise. you are wrong like always, this time with the amount of seats in oval film. you guys are a bunch of pathethic individuals with no life who should move to a nursing home(it is quiet, the government takes care of you, they serve you the meals, they wash you, clean you and tell you when to go to sleep).
Hold on there, Petie. We still haven't driven off the existing zombie management company:

Is ousting TS considered a Major Capital Improvement?!? I hope not...
Ski, government is taking care of you by providing a rent stabilized apartment. Don't forget that you are on the dole.
John,
The only reason people here complain is simply to piss you off.
Happy ?
Eek, they're not going away! When will the nightmare end?
I knew something was up this morning when the walkway behind the 500 block of East 20th was covered with ice. All I saw was a bunch of workers cranking out pitiful bits of salt. If anyone tripped and fell, who do they sue?
You are the only pathetic individual who makes Oval fishbowl your destination on date night.
A dog and his owner left a "tootsie roll" in my elevator last evening.
Yummy numms...Thanks SO much.

Yummmy numms!
Thanks SO much.
at 2 AM their new toy, a large snow blower and roller went through my area of PCV even though they had been through earlier after it stopped snowing. The sole purpose was to widen the walkway. The guy driving the blower backed it up at least 4 times right outside my bedroom window for no reason. Of course this toy comes fully equipped with loud beeping alarms when it is backed up, thus ensuring that I and my family and everyone else in my building and adjacent buildings was fully awake at 2AM! Another parting gift from Jerry and The boy Wonder.
To add insult to lack of sleep, the walkway in front of my building was a sheet of ice this morning.
Last year, or the year before I remember they had a salt spreader attached to that big stake truck and they drove it around the Oval and the large paths around the playgrounds. The snow was very wet, and they use those sweeper brooms which (believe it or not) actually make it very icy because they remove any insulating snow layer. You must salt before the snow, and after you sweep. That said, it seemed that they did a pretty good job. It's unfortunate that they've opted for more machinery and less people because it makes the snow removal process very noisy for everyone.
Anyone remember the Tractors ?
