I don't know whether to laugh or cry. How will this ever
change?
I just heard of a BEDBUG infestation an apartment in my building. Thanks very much TS.
BTW, I love how the dudes are sleeping directly next to one of those "blue light" SECURITY CAMERAS.
In the past few weeks there have been two muggings caught on camera, and now these drunken, shoeless fools drink beer bu the playground and pass out underneath the security cameras?
Good work security! It must be hard juggling your busy schedule of beeping your jeep horns at residents dogs, running people off the sidewalk and watching Sponge Bob.
Remind me to give you fat fucks the finger the next time I see you.
I believe we are now officially a slum. Thanks Tishman Speyer for turning our community into a slum. You have done it extremely well. You bloodsucking fucks.
Un-fucking believable. I just dropped my work to take a minute to make an entry here- that's how pissed I am. Not only is tihs guy slee;ing in front of a security camera but Itihnk that;'s near my building (I saw the trash outside a building near me just yesterday). And sorry for the expletive, but seriously. I passed up a doormanned, real luxury, lobbied new high-rise in Chelsea for $500 LESS than this piece of shit dump.
I can't fucking wait until TS's stay has expired and they have to finally start paying out after they lose their appeal.
A "community" this size can't handle people coming and going on a what seems like a monthly basis. There's tons of cheapo furniture and junk being disposed of with no place to put it. It either ends up piled around the storage units or randomly tossed onto the street with pizza boxes and the odd shoe.
Last week I saw a huge computer monitor with the screen kicked in sitting on top of the garbage can outside my building. It obviously didn't fit into the can yet it sat there for two days.
Lux living!
just moved out
finally got my security deposit back less many deductions (uggh!) but i am sooooo happy to be gone
it is a real shame what has happened to this community
Yikes, which deductions may I ask? Just curious as to what TS may try and pull on me once I laeve.

they charged me for repainting primarily - we painted the bedrooms and the living room
in hindsight i should have scheduled a "free" repainting before i moved out since i was there 7 years anyway
we knew we would be charged but did not expect them to try and rip us off so much --- well yes i guess we should have given the need for money to support Robie's poor investment
It reminds me of the Honeymooners when Ralph and Alice were evicted and all their furniture was out on the sidewalk.
How much did they charge you to paint???
I woulnd't do that if I were you- I (unsuccessfully) defended a guy in court 4 years ago who flipped off a cop upstate when the cop harassed him. The cop charged him with disorderly conduct (a simple violation) then upped it to criminal contempt (misdemeanor) because he claimed court was in session. So much for freedom of expression I suppose.
I just saw a sign in the carriage room of our building that says you can no longer put discarded furniture there. If you do and you're caught, you will be prosecuted. Before TS turned StuyTown into a transient, dormlike community there was no issue with discarded furniture. Our building didn't have a "revolving door" and the furniture issue was manageable. This new sign (in day-glo orange, no less) documents yet another round of inconveniences (and landlord threats)that have resulted from Tishman Speyer's greed.
TS is trying to push its new service where you call to have your furniture carted away and get charged for it. I think we were supposed to call MetLIfe too.
Also, question: what if I paid $0 deposit for this place? What could they charge me for if I painted?
Where do they recommend putting it, in front of the door to my storage unit with everyone else's???
I didn't know they would cart away furniture. Do you know what they charge? I have a huge entertainment center that I'd like to get rid of, but the thought of hauling it out of the apartment is putting me off.
A flyer was hanging up in my lobby advertising the carting-away service. I remember it said "reasonable fees" or words to that effect. You could call the management office if you feel like spending a half hour on hold!
Thanks, but I think maybe I'll just drag it out and leave it in the recycling area where everybody else leaves their discards! Calling the Management Office is like calling into The Void. I don't think they actually have anybody working there. It's just a front.
Well, talk to Molly. She seemed to have the answers to everything I could ever have imagined!
Before TS took over and turned Stuyvesant Town into a dorm - back in the days when real households (whether families or singles) lived here - it was rare to see furniture discarded. What was discarded (usually when someone died or moved) was pounced upon because it was good quality and usable. I have a couple of nice little tables that I found in the carriage room and was lucky enough to get there first! Now it's all Ikea crap and tons of it. What do we do when we do have something bulky to dispose of? Sneak it down there in the dead of night? That should be safe enough because it's not like anyone is watching the cameras!
If TS wins their appeal, i hope you guys have plans to go ballistic and march on city hall and go for Bloomberg's jugular! Bloomberg is ultimately responsible for all the crap that's happening at Stuy Town. I hope no one in Stuy Town votes for Bloomberg. Anyone would be better. Over here in the rental apartment building I live in, Independence Plaza, that's being raped and pillaged by the crummy developer that bought it and took it out of Mitchell-Lama and is trying to evict the lower rent tenants and rent to market rate people, we are all voting for anyone but Bloomberg. Bloomberg is the root of the problem. He's giving NYC to all his rich developer friends.
Beulah
That's where you are wrong
Catch a mugger who is on video? not a chance -Spongebob is on
Evict 2 transients sleeping on the benches- No way -too busy looking up ads for Dyker Heights real estate
Try to leave one old piece of furniture with the recycleables and you are a RS tenant? -Every security patrol car will race to your building with lights flashing and their faux-sirens wailing to serve you with your eviction notice.
There are signs up at 447 E14th that say you'll be prosecuted for disposing of furniture. As usual they give no further instruction how to throw furniture out.
I agree with you 100%, slob. Bloomberg is a cancer in this city and we need to get rid of him. I'd vote for just about anybody but him - as well as that opportunistic bitch, Quinn. She has to go, too.
I know. It will be like a scene from Dog Day Afternoon if I try to put out a worn out, rickety footstool!
Y'know, I'm trying to think of one good, positive, decent thing that Tishman Speyer has done for our community and sadly I can't think of even one thing. They haven't even done themselves any good; they've lost money and have become one of the most loathed and ridiculed landlords in New York, though I'm sure they are just as loathed in other places where they have practiced their trademark piracy and destruction.
In my building TS has gone further than putting up neon-glow signs saying you can't dump furniture by the trash cans--they've actually spray-painted that message onto the walls in the trash room. Looks like TS wanted their own tag--something more "sophisticated" (??) than our chicken-footed Stuyvesant Town mascot!
Prosecuted by whom, I wonder?
Nobody has stopped to think about the possibility that because TS posted signs in the carriage rooms threatening prosecution for leaving discarded furniture inside, residents are simply leaving furniture outside !
What morons.
remember.....
PLEASE LEASn YOUR DOGS.
I took a photo of the sign in my building and emailed it to Lux.
