"No Furniture Dumping" Signs Clarified, Sort of...

I hope they crack down on the numerous speeding bicycle delivery guys who routinely come close to knocking down people

Bikes? It's the kids on the scooters that are the problem. I've seen them nearly run into people, dogs, other kids. I'd never let my kids run wild like that.

I wonder if the 'dumping' includes the seemingly endless amounts of menus from restaurants I will NEVER eat at or order from.

Who the hell lets these people into my building to litter the hallways and my apartment when they slip things under the door?

Kids on scooters and adult men on electric scooters. Anyone seen that d-bag zipping around the Oval in his camo cargo shorts and red, white, and blue soccer jersey? Middle-aged attention whore if there ever was.

Yeah, I've seen that lazy bum. He's not even disabled. He probably went to an eye doctor to get him a permanent disability permit to allow him that Hovaround. He uses it as a 'carte blanche' to get people off elevators, open doors for him (Does anyone remember the classic Seinfeld episode?)
He ruins it for the truly needy people.

I didn't mean a Jazzy or Rascal, but a contraption that looks like a kid's Razor scooter except in big boy size.

Do they seriously think we are going to pay them to take away our bulk trash? They really are nuts. This was never a problem before the property became a dorm with a revolving door. Real families don't constantly "churn" furniture; they buy it and keep it and use it for a long time. The dormies buy all the cheap crap, use it for the duration of their lease and then dump it. I wonder if T&V will take up the issue of the new ban on photography in our Tishman Stalin version of Stuyvesant Town.

Of course T&V will take up the issue. Once it's been covered on Lux Living it's news for T&V -- a week later.

You are SO right! LOL!

And you'll notice it's a nameless management spokesperson who's quoted -- as always in T&V. So what's news here? Bikes? Toy cops were never afraid to stop Stuy Town kids from riding bikes. Ever hear of them stopping adults?

I don't think this is a new policy. Even under MetLife's reign you were supposed to call and have large items removed by the porters, although I don't remember if there was a charge. However, no one I know ever followed the policy.

I thought our tax dollars paid for DSNY to do this. I'll take it to the curb. I thought it was a matter of aesthetics for Met. What other city provided services might they hit us up for?

What next, toll booths?

you got it.............

The sign in our building says "No furniture dumping VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED"

Why did T&V leave that bit out???

I guess TS needs more room to store bags and bags of garbage and recyclabes.

T&V left that out because Stuy Town buys full page ads in the paper and because it's not really news. It's only news when it appears on Lux Living. Even the name of a management spokesperson would be something. But they can't do that. They wouldn't have had any article if it hadn't been on Lux Living.

Like I said in an earlier post - and it's now been confirmed by T&V - it's all about Tshitman being able to CHARGE you to take away your furniture. It's always "show me the money" time with them.

I would flush money down the toilet before I would give any of it to Tishman Speyer to remove anything. I will dump anything I have to remove into the elevator if necessary. I will not give these bloodsucking sharks a brown penny of my money over and above what I pay in rent. If they treated us with respect it would be a different story, but the way they treat us now - fuck them to hell.

So, in other words, just dump your furniture under the cover of night!

Loathe, please read dump furniture in the elevator as joke:

Ain't that the truth. It just amazes me that, had they taken a more moderate stance in the first place, the slight loss in extra income would have been the same as investing in tenant goodwill, which would have been worth its weight in gold, especially right now. Instead, they went for what my Granny used to call the Penny wise, Pound foolish approach.

They changed the hostile sign. Now black type on gray with a decorative boarder: "No furniture dumping in carriage room."

But I'm not over being treated like shit with the old one. It was totally insulting.

They don't know PR. They throw out an occassional bandaid or maybe this is the only bandaid.

Me? I'll continue to "dump", or recycle, my unwanted furniture in there.

It would be nice if instead of making up silly rules such no photography, no furniture disposal, etc., TS would lay down a few rules for the college brats who are overrunning the place. A rule against bellowing and woo-hooing at the top of the lungs when walking through the property at 1 am would be a good start!

On an unrelated topic, my wife was talking to the Macgray repairman recently (yes he does exist). When my wife pointed out the filthy conditions in our laundry room he said that was TS' responsibilty and another tenant said she heard TS had cut back on the number of porters.
Then my wife asked why most of the dryers had a green tint. He said that was likely due to some green item (like a crayon ) which had melted. When asked why the machines weren't replaced he said Mac Gray offered but TS refused to replace them because TS would have to pay for the replacements.
Yet another example of our dear Uncle Jerry and his son Robbie turning our once fine community into a housing project!

Many people in my building (including myself) go to 14th Street Wash and Clean. It's become quite the little gathering and gossiping place! I think business has boomed over there thanks to TS and MacGray!

we live in PCV so that is too far but thanks for the info

yeah, agreed, too far. i'll remember, though, when i move to e14th (riiight)

1 a.m.? That's when they're heading OUT.

Been there, but never came home hollering. And never dumped refuse where it didn't belong and all that. But then I was born in 1959 and to a blue collar family.

The behavior of these kids blows my mind. It blows my mind because they take no responsibility. If I complain ~~I~~ am the one with issues.

Like sociopaths in jails. "If she didn't" or "if he just" yada yada, then they wouldn't have had to kill them. The blame game.

They'll make fortunes in business I reckon, but they really should be serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.

YMMV.

What I meant to say initially is: Aren't TS et al ashamed of themselves or embarrassed? Oh wait, they're sociopathic too.
