The Speyers are offering The Lord Mayor (for life) Bloomberg the opportunity to house in STPCV hundreds of homeless people as part of their "charitable good works" for the city. The city will be charged a mere $3000 per month per resident in each apartment (of course TS plans to jam multiple homeless people into each apartment).
The Lord Mayor (for life) expressed his thanks to the Speyers for their generosity and ,when asked by a reporter how existing tenants would react to living with the homeless, The Lord Mayor (for life) responded " if they don't like it they can move to a borough other than Manhattan , which, as I told them when they tried to buy STPCV several years ago, is where the middle class belongs. "

Personally, I'd welcome the homeless over the college pukes.
I'd prefer the homeless too. At least war vets can use Vietnam and PTS as legitimate reason to binge drink and end up covered in puke.

Subletting? isn't that the same reason stuyvesant Town kicked out most previous tenants? Double Standard for short-term leases maybe?
