Feeling left out of the whole gas outage debacle taking place on the other side of Stuyvesant Town, 447 East 14th Street competes for negative attention with outages of their own. A Sty Spy tells us that the lobby of 447 is filled with Tishman Speyer's signature doomsday fliers. Tomorrow 435, 445, 447, 449, 451, 453, 455, 505, 515 and 521 East 14th Street will be without heat and hot water. To add insult to injury 447 only has one 'ghetto blaster' in working order.
It's safe to say the leasing office won't be showing the model apartment in 447 East 14th Street to prospective tenants until sometime later in the week when they won't have to walk up ten flights of stairs.

Hey, it's all part of the Tish-Spy's Grand Scheme, Jerry's Mein Kampf, to tear down these walls! The buildings are aging and the infrastructure is faulty. Little attention has been paid to upgrading the infrastructure. They have been putting lipstick on the proverbial pig! That's why part of the plan is to rent to temporary residents such as college students and yuppies who are transient and don't expect to live here forever, in order to gain income while Jerry's Mein Kampf is ongoing. It is likely that there will come a point in time when repairs or renovation of the infrastructure will be prohibitive from both an engineering and cost standpoint, and Tish-Spy will use Mickey Three Terms to declare living here unsafe and exile extant tenants to Queens or the Bronx, or worse yet New Jersey, because Mickey Three Terms is seeking to become Mickey Four Terms. We are planning to strike tents in City Hall Park when that happens because we won't be able to afford another place in another borough. Of course it belies the fact that Mickey might try to spin everyone into believing that he is the only one who can save the city by saving New York State and thus will show his dedication to New York City by running for governor in 2010, promising that he will go to Albany and do what is needed for the city, or more plausibly for the oligarchy that runs the city and the state. Can you believe that Mickey will spend any significant time in Albany? Makes me want to vomit like the partygoer did on our front steps last night. Both rent-stabilized and market-rate tenants are an endangered species. The dream of middle class housing in the midst of Manhattan is on life support and soon will be dead.
I know more about what goes on in ST from this website than I do the T&V newspaper. Why is it that one person writing a blog reports more about ST than a newspaper with dedicated time and resources?
Tuesday, November 4th is election Day so how will residents be able to get out to vote if the elevator, Cab A is being fixed. Why isn't this being done on Monday, November 3rd? Similarly, why is the heat and hot water being shut down on a Sunday when everyone is home? Does Tish-Spy have contracts with companies that work only on Sundays and holidays?
What a world! This time the Jewish Real Estate moguls are going to enforce THE FINAL SOLUTION.
Luxie....the heat and hot water will be turned off tomorrow in some Oval buildings, too. The same notice is in our lobby.
Whoever writes this website: I am not sure if I should hire your as a PR consultant or keep you at a close distance. Brilliant!
Public to Give Mayor Earful on 3rd Term
Published: November 1, 2008, NEW YORK TIMES
The bruising debate over term limits is not over — yet.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at City Hall, members of the public will be given two minutes each to tell Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, face to face, why they favor or oppose legislation that would permit him to seek a third term. It is not known how long the hearing will last.
It will be the first time that Mr. Bloomberg will be present for a public hearing on the legislation, which will allow him and dozens of elected officials in the city to serve 12 years, rather than 8. NewYork voters approved the current term limits in two public referendums in the 1990s.
Mr. Bloomberg will listen to the discussion during a bill-signing ceremony. By the end of the hearing, the mayor is expected to sign the term-limits legislation, which was passed by the City Council, into law.
A spokesman for Mr. Bloomberg, Jason Post, said the mayor’s office was “prepared to accommodate members of the public” who want to testify, “just as we have at bill signings over the last seven years.”
A likely opponent for the mayor in the 2009 race, Representative Anthony D. Weiner, is urging New Yorkers to testify — and dozens of people are expected to speak.
There is precedent for a last-minute change of heart. In 2007, Mr. Bloomberg delayed signing — and later vetoed — a bill that would cap the number of pedicabs operating in the city after hearing pleas from the measure’s opponents.

So typical of these fucking bastards to turn off the heat and hot water on a Sunday. They wake us up every morning at 7:30 with their fucking drilling and digging except for Sundays (mostly), they empty dumpsters at 3 am to make sure we don't get a full night's sleep and then they turn the heat and hot water off on the one day when our apartments might actually feel like home. This place gets more like fucking Belsen every day.
Luxury you have to climb to believe! ROFL
Sorry, marathon runners....no hot shower available upon your return home today! But maybe if you ask nicely, this guy will agree to hose you down:

These stupid assholes have to turn off the hot water and heat on the weekend, right? Saturday and Sunday are the only days some of us can find the time to do laundry. They really do have shit for brains. They should rename themselves "Tishman's Failure."
Well it's 10:20 and there's still hot heat/hot water. TURN THE HOT WATER BACK ON YOU ROTTEN SLUM LORDS!
Very lovely day. I had two friends who were running the Marathon staying with me--after they ran 26 miles, we came back to S.T., practically tripping in the dark, on the dangerous 14th Street loop that was jammed with construction workers and Con-Ed trucks. All this to arrive in my apartment that still had no heat or hot water. So I had to bundle them in a taxi and take them to a friend's apartment in Waterside, where they could shower and get warm.
Currently back home with the oven on, wrapped in multiple blankets. I feel like a squatter on the lower east side. Oh, wait, squatters live for free, right?
