Residents of Stuyvesant Town, Manhattan's most contaminated luxury rental property, celebrated Arbor Day this afternoon. (Actually, everyday in Stuyvesant Town is Arbor Day.) In an effort to blow through their cash reserve quicker than financial experts predict, Tishman Speyer rented an unsteady crane from midtown and planted three enormous, leafless trees at the corner of 14th Street and First Avenue.Residents were delighted to experience another early morning, weekend construction project and are already reaping the rewards. "It's great! In addition to the brown chunder in my tap water, I now have Aphids and they can't get enough of the murky goop. In just three hours my water went from black to dark brown," an elated tenant tells us."I might be able to have dinner parties again!"

OMG! A Tishman crane! Everyone duck for cover!
Someone should make a movie about Stuy Town loosely based on Beetlejuice. A quiet complex taken over by yuppies hellbent on torturing everybody. And the only help we will get is from Juno.
It looks like a scene out of a Evel Knievel motorcycle jump. Ccmplete with the motorcycle!
Well. After carefully examining the above photograph, I believe our staff of arboriculture experts accidentally planted one of the three leafless trees sideways!
Remember this from school.................
Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918
Trees
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
WTF was wrong with the trees that were there last week? I swear to GOD this place defies logic. Has anyone told Rob and Jerry that trees and plants are living things, and not disposable props? Glad to see they have their priorities straight.
Why doesn't Jerry Speyer construct an entrance and exit to the First Avenue L train station on Avenue A? That would be a very community minded thing to do. We would even call Avenue A between 14th and 13th Streets, Speyer Way.
chunder - LOL!
At least they are plating trees at the appropriate time of year, Spring or Fall; Rather than plating them in July, when it is 98 degrees out and hasn't rained for 4 weeks. TS shows signs of intelligence.
