How cold does it have to get before TishFuck turns the heat on? I just got out of the hospital after major invasive surgery and I am shivering in an apartment that is about as cold as a Speyer heart. I called the office 4 times and they kept saying they would send someone; then they said it wasn't cold enough for heat. How do these heartless bastards get away with it?

Beulah,
You were absolutely right about the Tenants" Association It was all about a political agenda. Don't get me wrong because I agree with all the politicians more or less, but the 2pm meeting was delayed because the pols had a press conference outside. Then for over an hour, they had the floor. When tenants got up to speak nothing new was said.

To Anonymous on October 19 at 3:33 pm:

I have not posted anything at all for a while, and certainly not today. Why are you addressing moi? I hope someone isn't using my name to post stuff.

Beulah,
It was a post written a month or so ago. Please don't take offense.

A month or so ago? Do you know how many jugs of hooch ago that was? Puhlease! I don't remember what I said last night - - or who I said it to.

The pols from the 'hood show up when they know they can talk and get their photos in the T&V showing how much they care about the neighborhood, especially when elections are coming up. Carolyn Maloney [aka Carolyn Baloney] takes action by writing letters and asking for meetings that never occur. The State Senate and Assembly reps are a joke. They can introduce legislation in favor of tenant issues 'til the cows come home and nothing ever happens, and they can conveniently blame it on the state legislative leadership. Dan Garodnik tries hard but his hotline lawyers are not necessarily housing law specialists and thus their advice is loaded with caveats such as "I'm not really that kind of attorney." One, for sure, gave me incorrect information. Responsive, but actually useless. The idea that they kept everyone waiting so they could meet the press is just another example of how arrogant pols think they are better than everyone else. The fact that they then talked for an hour...in lieu of listening to tenants' concerns...is proof positive.

I showed up at 2:30, figuring that it would be a delayed start.

The elected officials spoke for awhile, then the tenants who had signed up to speak each spoke for two minutes. What a waste of time! Even though they were asked to "pass" if their issue had already been addressed, nobody had the courtesy to do this so the same issues were repeated over and over again.

I actually felt bad for Garodnick, et al. At least I was able to get up and leave--they weren't.

They used to turn the heat on October 15th or as soon as it drops below 50 degrees. Not anymore.

Oh, come on. Issues were not repeated "over and over again." Yes, there were a few follow-ups on previous complaints, but so what? Give people a chance to vent.

When Garodnick spoke before tenants had a chance to speak, he listed the problems that he was aware of which included just about everything. I don't know about you, Stuy Town Reporter, but the whole meeting left me with a feeling of being used. The bulletin said it was a meeting for people to speak out. No way was it that. It was really a meeting called so that the pols could make their pitch. The advertising was false and misleading. I'm tired of being fucked over by liars like Tishman Speyer and now the Tenants Association. By the time the tenants were "allowed" to express themselves, we had been there for an hour and a half.
The only good news is that we had heat on Sunday night. Hallelujah!

Here are the guidelines for the city's requirements for heat.

My building still hasn't had heat this season--I called Resident Services and the guy hung up on me. So I reported it to 311.

Strange, because normnally my apt. is sweltering in the winter. I guess this is one of T-S's money-saving plans.
