Last month several Sty Spies noticed that Tishman Speyer may or may not be illegally reproducing images of Frank Sinatra to advertise their perpetually forthcoming Oval Film. E-mails were sent to the estate of Frank Sinatra and reps said they are looking into the matter.Today we found a recent post on the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association website that shows Tishman Speyer is now co-opting the work of deceased East Village artist, Keith Haring, to advertise their expensive Oval Kids playroom. A vigilant Sty Spy contacted the estate of Keith Haring to see if Tishman Speyer has permission to use the artists' imagery to promote their luxury amenities in an almost gated community. Oh, the irony.

This is great. I heard that they will soon place Damien Hirst diamond-encrusted skulls above each building entrance, and that a rather racy Chapman Brothers exhibit is planned for the kids come Halloween.

Actually it's very black and white. Tish-Spy will choose to do whatever they want, blatantly disregarding any legal or moral issues--not to mention the health and well-being of their tenants--to make money. I don't see any grey here.
Undermining the activities of Tishamn Speyer is not helpful or entertaining, but sure as hell is funny. Those scumbags are charging me 2 cents a page for each photocopy of Frank Sinatra that I make.
