These Cetra Cruddy additions to the buildings look SO out of place. They should have consulted with the firm that redid the Bowery Hotel. At least that looks like it belongs to the existing neighborhood. These elitist fish tanks are ridiculous looking. I'm sure the 4 people who signed up for Oval Lounge can't wait to be leered at from the residents outside.
I actually called the Amenities office today to ask if they thought they'd be open by Oct.1. Here's how the conversation went. This is verbatim:
Oval Rep: "We have pushed back our opening date. It's now October 10."
Me: "Great, so by that Friday October 10 you'll be open."
Oval Rep: "Well, AROUND October 10."
Me: "Uh, ok, AROUND October 10th. Since you have all our personal info on file, do you think maybe you could have sent those who signed up an email notifying them of the delay?"
Oval Rep: "That is a GREAT idea, thank you for suggesting that."
Me: "You mean that didn't occur to anyone until right now?"
Oval Rep: (silence) "I'm sure it did. I meant to say we appreciate all feedback, sir."
Real pros, these guys.
I was walking past the atrocities in the oval this weekend and noticed how the glass protrudes from the building by a few feet - it made me think of this article from a few weeks back-

Great article, Stream of Abuse! I think the Oval "Amenities" could well with a dousing! I hope that tenants over the atrocity should throw things down from their windows onto it.
Have they actually billed people for these useless glass huts? Is there any official info anywhere as to when they were planning on / will be opening?
How funny will it be to see them all steamed up when winter comes. Oval Sauna!
Go Ask Alice, No they didn't give any reason for the delay, nor did I ask. Pretty obvious though that they just don't have their act together. I was just amazed that they couldn't have thought to communicate with their members as to what is going on. I personally have no use for the Lounge, Film or Study, but the Oval Kids will certainly be useful come winter time with our toddler, and that's the only reason we signed up.
I think it's hilarious/ridiculous that you have to sign up for all 4 amenities no matter what, even if you are a 2-year old.

Stream of Abuse you are right! I wonder how long it will be before tenants start dumping bodily fluids and found objects down on those stupid amenities.
Or the rocks that have been piled in the unfinished 14th St. Loop!
