Stuyvesant Town residents learned via email this morning that the Music on the Oval series has been abruptly canceled due to lack of interest and is being replaced by an edgy film series that suggests parents leave their kids at home. The Music on the Oval series was canned because the miserable event attracted the occasional, semi-interested passerbyer...and he didn't like what he heard. The free weekly concert series promised "great evenings of music bands and djs" but after six weeks of vacant lawns the music series was scrapped.
Desperate to keep tenants entertained, tonight Stuyvesant Town is introducing its "7 Weeks of Troubled Behavior" movie series on Stuyvesant Oval beginning with Andy Warhol's Trash.
"We're trying to add an edgy element to Stuyvesant Town," said Stuy Town's cultural attaché, Miranda Wildenstein. "And what better way to kick off the series than with transsexual Holly Woodlawn satisfying herself with a beer bottle in front of her flaccid junkie lover? Couldn't you just die?"
Stuyvesant Town's Oval Film Schedule

Oh I am so angry! No July 14, Bastille Day, Movies on the Oval showing of Louis Malle's, Murmur of the Heart! No showing ever of The Man with the Golden Arm! Or is this wonderful film just to be shown in their stupid Oval Lounge? Merde! I hate you, T-S!
Any movie in which Madonna gets killed at the end sounds good to me!
Before the outdoor movie series I used to entertain myself by staying inside watching my brown water drip. Now I can sit on dirty soil with a bunch of strangers watching trashy flicks. After Identifying myself as a market rate tenant, I was driven home while mowing down good for nothing rent stabilized tenants. Life is so much more luxuriously exciting with my best friend T-S.
I guess Edna Doodle will have to find a sitter for Mother if she wants to watch any of these movies.
I think that Edna and Mother should attend wearing their new bathing suits and carrying a flask of Vermouth.
I saw Emma and mother at Billy Joel's Farewell to Shea Stadium concert tonight. Both wore Billy Joel '08 tee shirts over their swimming dresses and fit right in with the crowd. This made me think about our own need to have a farewell to middle income housing fete in the Oval. I understand that the Speyers, Jerry and Rob, do a right mean harmony with Billy Joel's Allentown calling it Stuyvesant Town.
Sorry, I meant to say Edna, but wrote Emma. I was thinking of Emma Lazarus and Emma Goldman and a world without greed,I suppose
Busy. Busy. Busy...bodies. Now, can mother and I please get back to our date with Richard Harris?
